Overview

Moodies Care is a digital health platform designed to make psychological support more accessible, friendly, and approachable. The app offers personal counselling sessions, daily mood tracking, and self-help content tailored to emotional well-being.

My role in this project focused on UX Design, UI Design, and Brand Identity, crafting a product experience that feels uplifting, safe, and emotionally supportive.

Problem

Despite rising awareness around mental wellbeing, many people still avoid therapy due to:

  • High cost and accessibility barriers

  • Fear of judgment

  • Limited understanding of psychological support

  • Lack of tools to meaningfully track emotions

  • Difficulty finding the right counsellor

Moodies Care aims to break these barriers by offering a gentle, playful, and friendly platform that brings therapy and self-reflection to the user’s fingertips.

Goal

Design a lightweight, emotionally-intelligent app where users can:

  • Track how they feel daily

  • Get matched with professional counsellors

  • Access helpful wellness articles

  • Receive personalized guidance

  • Build a consistent mental wellness routine

The UX challenge was to create something professional yet not clinical, playful but not childish, simple yet emotionally supportive.

Design Approach

1. Friendly & Human Tone

The UI uses soft pastels, rounded shapes, and expressive illustrations to create a warm, welcoming environment. The goal was to reduce the anxiety that users may feel when accessing mental health services.

2. Clear Emotional Entry Point

Upon opening the app, users immediately see:

  • A friendly greeting

  • A positive message ("Your daily dose of connection & inspiration")

  • Quick emotion inputs represented by expressive emoji-based faces

This lowers friction and encourages consistent emotional check-ins.

3. Mood Tracking That Feels Light

Instead of overwhelming analytics, users see:

  • Simple mood faces

  • A short notes summary

  • Encouraging micro-feedback

The interaction is designed to feel like “checking in with a friend” rather than filling out a form.

4. Counselling Made Accessible

Users can book Text, Call, or Video counselling sessions.
The scheduling flow emphasizes:

  • Transparency

  • Comfort

  • Trust-building

Each counsellor profile includes a friendly photo, bio, and mood-based matching indicators.

5. Wellness Content for Daily Inspiration

Smartly curated articles offer digestible tips across food, lifestyle, and mindset.
The feed is visually minimal so it doesn’t add mental load.

Process

Step 1 — Research & Problem Framing

  • Studied barriers in traditional counselling

  • Conducted lightweight competitor analysis

  • Identified opportunities for emotional comfort and simplicity

Step 2 — User Journey Mapping

Mapped out a flow for:
“I’m feeling something → I want to express it → I want to feel better → I want support if needed.”

Step 3 — Wireframes & Information Architecture

Focused on minimizing cognitive load and reducing steps for mood logging and booking.

Step 4 — UI Visual Exploration

Experimented with style directions before finalizing the friendly pastel-illustration aesthetic.

Step 5 — Prototyping & Micro-Interactions

Added smooth transitions and small delightful elements to reinforce emotional warmth.

Outcome

Moodies Care delivers:
